Galinka Chavdarova – Biography

Галинка Чавдарова

Galinka Chavdarova was born in Sofia, People’s Republic of Bulgaria, on August 10, 1956.

She graduated in psychology from the Faculty of Philosophy of the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia, earning a bachelor’s and a master’s degree. She also completed a Master’s Degree Programme in speech therapy at the Faculty of Educational Sciences and the Art at the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia.

Chavdarova attained post-graduate qualification in health psychology and educational rehabilitation and successfully underwent training courses in handling the Wechsler Intelligence Scale (IQ test) and in Art Therapy for Children. She also received specialist training in available social services for children and in divorce psychological counselling.

Chavdarova worked as a psychologist at Specialised Children’s Hospital No. 1 (1982-2000), at the St Sophia Private Primary School (2000-2001), at Rehabilitation School No. 6 (2003-2008), at Rehabilitation School No. 1 (2008-2011), and at the Badeshte Centre for Social Support with Foundation Nadejda (2011-2020).

Between 2002 and 2003, she was part of the team of the Pharos Foreign Language Schools.

In 2019, Chavdarova and lay judge Mimo Garcia co-launched „Let’s talk together“, an online platform for psycho-logopaedic held and support (www.dagovorimzaedno.com). She participated in the two platform formats authored by Mimo Garcia, Every First Monday (2019–2020) and Short Messages (2021), which deal with child aggression; autism; post-stroke aphasia; child adoption; dyslexia; sexual orientation; healthy weight loss; media literacy. In 2020, in a special podcast initiated by Mimo Garcia, Chavdarova answered questions from listeners who had experienced panic due to the COVID-19 situation.
