The online platform for psycho-logopaedic help and support „Let’s talk together“ (www.dagovorimzaedno.com) was launched in January 2019 by psychologist and speech therapist Galinka Chavdarova and blogger and lay judge Mimo Garcia. The two pooled their efforts, guided by an aspiration that in Bulgaria knowledge must at least stop the onslaught of a lack of understanding leading to rejection.
Galinka and Mimo find it important to demonstrate that people with autism, with Down syndrome deserve to live decently without stares and sneers. They want to show that strike survivors can recover as long as they overcome embarrassment and seek professional help to tackle speech loss. The duo is also combating prejudice-rooted discrimination against the LGBTI community.
To Galinka and Mimo, domestic violence is a painful subject in which society conveniently “sees no evil, hears no evil, speaks no evil”. Unlike the three wise monkeys, from which this phrase originates, inaction in this case is tantamount to condoning with face slappers and fist bullies. Galinka and Mimo Garcia are trying to publicise what is going on and provoke citizens’ intolerance of violence in all its forms.
Mimo Garcia also authored the online platform formats Every First Monday (2019–2020) and Short Messages (2021), in which he and Galinka Chavdarova deal with child aggression; autism; post-stroke aphasia; child adoption; dyslexia; sexual orientation; healthy weight loss; media literacy.
In 2020, lay judge Mimo Garcia initiated a special podcast of „Let’s talk together“, in which psychologist Chavdarova answers questions from listeners who have experienced panic due to the COVID-19 situation.
